Back To School

Hi ho, hi ho, its off to school we go...Today is the beginning of a new school year.  We are headed to take the kids to Chick-Fil-A for breakfast and pray with them about this new school year.   It is an exciting time for us as parents but also a scary time.  Needless to say, our kids are growing up fast.  Merideth reminded me the other night just how fast time is flying as we discussed the future.

As families are sending their children back to school, may we be reminded that our schools are a great place to live out that which we say we believe as Christians.  Pray for school administrators, teachers and other personnel as well as students for opportunities as well as protection.

Giving

Remember this:  Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.  Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.
2 Corinthians 9:6-8

What a privilege it is to know that you are such a giving people.  We thank the Lord for your graciousness that you demonstrated this past week in giving a love offering to Lee Hyatt for his service this summer at Heritage.  I got so excited knowing that your gifts were an outpouring from your hearts.  May we continue to use the resources that God has given us as a body of believers to encourage and fan the flame of ministry and may God give us the increase so we can do even more......

We love you!

Goodbye Lee

Summer is almost over and it is just about time for a new schedule.  One thing i will personally miss this fall is the absence of Lee Hyatt being with us.  Thank you Lee for sacrificing your summer to come and serve with us at Heritage.  You are a masterpiece of God's grace.  We will miss your smile and enthusiastic attitude that you shared with us all summer.  We thank God for sending you to us.  You have left an imprint of God's love in every area you have served.  May God bless you as you head back off to school.  We will keep up on our new facebook account!

If you would like to keep up with Lee or maybe send him some homemade cookies, here's his address at school:

Early This Morning

"In the morning, O lord , you hear my voice, in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation."
-Psalms 5:3

I woke up early this morning just thinking about stuff.  Have you ever had one of those mornings where you wake up earlier than everyone else?  The house is quiet and dark yet you can't sleep because your mind is racing with stuff, or is it God saying I would like to talk with you this morning without any interruptions. This morning was my morning!  After lying in bed for 45 minutes I finally submitted, "okay Lord, I will get up and listen!"  I fumbled out of bed and sat in the living room "in the dark" and talked to the Lord about different things.  As the sun began to rise,  I moved to the porch to continue my conversation with the Lord and watch the day begin through the windows on my back porch.

The Lord so much desires our time and attention regardless of the time, but what a great way to start the day.  For those of you who have been praying for the sale of our condo, the Lord blessed us last week by closing on that property.  The condo was on the market for over a year, but God's timing is much more perfect than ours. Today we have needs of friends dealing with sickness and reminded of others who are separated from loved ones due to job responsibilities.

Father, would you hear us today as we petition you concerning our requests.

"this is the day that the Lord hath made, and I will rejoice and be glad in it."
