Say What

Would you be willing this week to carve some time out of your busy schedule to get in the closet, shut the door and spend time with your heavenly Father. We would never turn down an invitation to meet with a prince or president, so don't miss the opportunity to spend some time with the King of Kings!

Remember, when you get in the closet behind the door:

First and foremost, declare God's greatness and then, because of who He is, bring your life into submission to Him, and be willing to say, your agenda God before mine, your plan before my plan.  Finish your time by acknowledging your complete dependence on Him for everything--this is not a prayer to be memorized but a pattern to be prioritized!!

Jesus said, Our father who is in heaven, hallowed be Your name, Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our sins as we forgive those who have sinned against us, lead us not into temptation, but deliever us from evil.

-Matthew 6:9-13

Sermon Series and Resources

The video series, "Interruptions", from Louie Giglio the past two weeks has been so relevant as the economy continues to struggle. I walked away yesterday just thankful for some of the awesome resources that are out there to help us in our Faith journey. It was an encouragement to see the workplace as one of our ministry opportunities instead of climbing the corporate ladder or a position to pay the bills. Just imagine how many lives would be impacted and changed if we saw the workplace as an opportunity! One of the moving moments to me was coming to grips that our careers only last for a season. We spend so much time building our careers yet, within the time frame of eternity, that season is very small. Sometimes it takes an interruption to capture our attention to see that there is more to life than the 9-5er. How much our heavenly Father desires our availability, not just our productivity! I am looking forward to beginning a new series this week on "Prayer" and taking a deep look into Jesus' teaching on this subject.

Yesterday, I also mentioned a book that a friend of mine recommended and after reading and absorbing it, I highly recommend it to you as well. The book is called, "The Divine Mentor" by Wayne Codeiro, and you can find it here.

While I am on resources, I had a couple ask me about talking to their children about sexuality this past week. One resource that I highly recommend is the "God's Design for Sex" series. You can find it here.

Just so you know, this series begins at age 4 and takes you through the teenage years.

I would also want to encourage you to find that closet time with the Lord this week and spend some time with the Father. He is waiting to hear from you!!! If you don't have a regular Bible reading schedule, you can go to RBC Ministries and click to get a daily scripture reading. You can also get it sent directly to your email on a daily basis so it is there when you wake up in the morning.

Merideth and I love you bunches. Remember, we are on the journey just like you are--one step at a time--the goal is not our pace but the finish line!!!

Tree Planting at WMS

On a dark, stormy day in Wildwood, the students at Wildwood Middle School were presented with a new sign as well as a palm tree which was donated by Heritage Community Church for their hard work in earning the school their first ever “A” rating. This is a big deal in the public school system and we wanted to congratulate them with the tree and also let them know how much we appreciate them for allowing us to meet at their school on Sundays.

Congratulations Wildwood Middle School! Keep up the good work!
