Relationships

If we were to sit down and pen out our life story, we would probably fill the pages with names of individuals who have influenced our lives. As I look, I am reminded of the many people that God has placed in my life over the years to help nurture and encourage me in my journey of Faith. It seems that at just the right time, certain people showed up to pat me on the shoulder or at other times, look me in the eye and hold me accountable. For those relationships, I am forever grateful because each one has played a huge part in helping me go deeper in my trust in Christ.

Relationships are just one of the many ways that God helps us grow spiritually. Look back on your life. What friend, relative or acquaintance has had a spiritual impact? In what way?

Can we flip this conversation around for a moment? Has God used you to enlarge someone else's faith? If so, who? Are you intentionally seeking out those relationships?

In 1st Corinthians 15:33 the Apostle Paul stated, "do not be mislead, bad company corrupts good character".

What Paul was saying is that there is a connection between your personal relationships and the size of your faith in God. You cannot divorce those two things.

What about you? Do you need to be more intentional or more available or just intentionally available?

Deeper

Deep is defined as "extending way down from the surface"--

Growing up, when traveling, I often asked the question, “how much longer do we have before we get there?”  I assumed that the driver knew the destination, and he had a good idea of how much longer we would be on the road before we reached that destination.  In following Christ, we don't always say it, but we might think along the same lines concerning spiritual growth, “How much longer before I get to the place that I should be spiritually?” How deep is deep enough?

Deeper is one of those words that we can throw around especially when we talk about growing spiritually.  But what exactly is "going deeper"?  How do we get there?  The spiritual journey begins with trust and dives deeper as our trust grows.

Paul said, "So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.

-Colossians 2:6-7

There are many things that go into spiritual growth, but it all starts with the willingness to jump into the water and break the surface. Are you ready to go Deeper?
